Santiago Alvarez Campa
Graduated from the Utrecht Conservatory, the Netherlands, he obtained a bachelor's and master's degree under the tutelage of Siebe Henstra, Wilbert Hazelzet, Heiko ter Schegget. Having previously started his harpsichord studies in the class of teacher Luisa Durón at the UNAM National School of Music. Perfecting himself later at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia with Beatrice Martin.
Since his return to Mexico, he has performed in the main venues and festivals in the country: Cervantino, Festival Barroquísimo, Festival de la Ciudad de México, Festival de Centro Histórico, Fest. of the Mayan Culture, Ortíz Tirado Festival, etc). He has given chamber music recitals in Germany, Spain, Argentina in the old keyboard cycle, Erasmus Huis in Jakarta Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center in Malaysia, Peru, Guatemala, China (in the hall of the Forbidden City in Beijing) , Wuhan and USA. He has played with Josetxu Obregón (La Ritirata) and the French violinist Hélène Schmitt.
He was professor of basso continuo from 2007-2009 at the Escuela Superior de Música. He has taught courses and classes at the Lima Conservatory, University of Texas RG campus, Yucatan School of Arts, UNAM School of Music, Veracruzana University School of Music and in the Audio Engineering Society - Mexico.
In addition to performing, his interest in keyboard instruments has led him to participate as a tuner and in recordings with Pierre Hantaï ("Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier" and "Scarlatti"); Pieter-Jan Belder; Musica Amphion and Musica ad Rhenum, among others. He has been a FONCA scholarship holder in the "study abroad" program.
He founded "MaLaCLaSe" project a two and three harpsichords with Miguel Cicero and Jan van Grootheest. He is a continuationist for Los Farsantes with whom he will record a CD of early Italian music during the spring of 2021 as FONCA scholarship holders.
